Family moments- A quest for snow

Here in Athens we don't get to see too much snow..unlike my hometown where -15 temperatures  and plenty of snow are not unusual , here winter is overrated. This week it actually snowed in Athens; not too much, but enough to feel the touch of a few snowflakes on my face. My son was actually shocked when he saw them melting on his hand. But after a couple of minutes he started liking it. So we were making plans to drive outside of Athens, to Parnitha, (we've been here before) and enjoy the much deserved and waited for snow. Nothing was going to stop us, not even my cold and runny nose , or the fact that we  have no winter gear...no sleigh, no thick jackets, ski outfits or snowboards ...anyway, I've searched through our closets and managed to find some winter clothes, put them on and headed to Parniha. Lucky us, it was sunny 15  in the center of Athens. But the mountain has kept its winter status and the deer were still there, friendlier that ever

It was a beautiful happy day. I'll never forget the laughter of my little one while he was walking for the very first time on melted snow; he was giggling and screaming with happiness, until he reached the thick  snow and kept falling..that wasn't fun anymore, so we "placed" him on a wooden table with some snow to keep him busy while mommy was showing the boys how to make a snowman, daddy completed it with pine cone nose and eyes and, of course, took the pictures so we can show off  in front of our friends and relatives and on the web, obviously.

Since we don't have a sleigh and didn't want to buy one as we have no place to store it for now, we used a Jumbo bag (damn, they are resistant)..actually daddy used it, my feet were starting to freeze so I just stayed away and enjoyed the view :) At that point I was wondering myself how many kids are  actually living under my roof:definitely 3! see for yourselves:

2,5 hours later, we were all ready to leave as the cold feet ,hands and red noses warned us we're not prepared for this kind of weather.
After a hot bath and some hot chicken soup the kids fell asleep unexpectedly stress free (as my husband said- today he was in charge with the  bed time routine ).It reminded me of the cold winter days when, as kids,  we used to come home after a whole day of playing in the snow and fall asleep in the warm beds while the cheeks were still red from the frost bite...
Anyway...even in sunny and warm Athens, we can still taste the pleasure of snow, even for a day or two, it is totally worth it.
And btw..thank you honey for doing the dishes so I can post this :)
