DIY board game or how to survive the flu season

I saw this picture on a friend's wall a few days ago and I thought..."exactly...my life in a photo" It's true what they say:one imagine equals a thousand words. Winter asthenia has taken over...plenty of rain, gloomy skies, runny noses, never ending whining and tortuous coughs."I don't want to take my medicine!" "I don't like cough syrup, I want to be sick!", "I don't want to go to the doctor!"and mostly"I don't want to eat, I'm not hungry!"...sounds familiar? that's the chorus of an agonising perpetual state of...sickness , craziness and chaos. That makes me rethink my preference towards winter and cool weather. ..if summer is gonna keep the germs away , then I'm gonna love summer even if that means getting overcooked in my own skin.

Besides doctor appointments and medicines, we didn't get to do much. However, I did find time to keep the promise I made to my oldest son: a board game created for him, (for the whole family actually), with funny tasks meant to cheer him up a little bit during the days he skipped school due to being ill. The idea came to me before Christmas when I used  board games to play with my students in the last day before the holidays. Took me almost two months to finalize my idea, but it was worth it. We had fun throwing the dice, counting and following the rules (which, by the way, were written in Romanian, as I was making an important step to keep my New Year's resolution and try to speak more Romanian).
If you want to make your own board game, make sure you do a little research before starting. There are plenty of sites with ideas and tutorials. The older the kids, the better. Ours was very simple, and I'm thinking  next one should definitely have to do with pirates or chasing some sort of  treasure, like the one in the picture. I found  this site really helpful.I never imagined how easy it is to create one and how much fun it is to play. Of course, it always depends on the age.
