After a long but justified absence, I'm back. "You've disappeared", my husband said. With all that has been going on around the house ,it was impossible to write anything. First, everybody got sick;I'm not talking about a simple cold, but the worst flu ever and there's nothing more exhausting that being down with a flu and having to look after sick kids.As if my own hell wasn't enough, I had to find the strength to keep things as normal as possible and I failed..chaos and misery ruled the whole house until I started getting better which took almost 2 weeks.Yes, it was the worst flue ever!
But flu hasn't been the only thing that kept me away:well, ever since I've started watching the "Vampire Diaries",I got hooked on the series. As a matter of fact, I haven't been that hooked on a TV show since Prison Break. So for 2 full weeks I've been watching 3 seasons until I couldn't watch anymore. Now I'm taking a break from vampires and werewolves until ...well, nobody knows till when, not even me. Call me crazy, but this is my thing :)Guilty as charged :)
So, this weekend we finally had the chance to get out of the house and smell the early spring, yesterday at the beach, today outside of Athens, at Lake Marathon, not actually a lake but a reservoir and the primary water supply for the city of Athens. We chose the area not for its picturesque surroundings but mostly for the educational value. How often do you get the opportunity to see where your water is coming from and how impressive this construction is? I have read that the marble used for the external cladding is the same marble used in the construction of the Parthenon and other buildings from the Acropolis.
As usual, our faithful "friends"were the rotisserie chicken and some salad that we ate at the playground, under the sun, on the bench. It's not comfortable but for some reason we like it...I'm still dreaming about a picnic in a location without sand, wind, rocks, running dog, cars, with wooden table and chairs...but we haven't found it yet.No worries, we'll keep looking for it!
The day was full of fun: running, playing basketball, hiking and treasure hunting, dog chasing and viceversa, until it got really windy and we decided to come back. I cannot risk another cold, no matter how small, I think I paid my dues until October...
